President: Annmarie Herrera | Traditional-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.President@gmail.com
My goal as of now is to be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) which requires graduate work to become one. After graduation I plan to work in critical care for a year or two before applying to graduate schools to further my nursing career to obtain my Masters and then doctorates. I love working in the OR as I do now but more administrative. Ever since I came into the surgical setting I have never wanted to leave, but have become more intrigued with what CRNA’s do as I look forward to advancing my education to become one. A goal that I have being President for NSA is to have more engagement with the club having events where we we can hang out in the small amount of free time we have to relax. I also plan to have more people attend conventions this school year as we have three coming up. Reaching out to other schools is also a goal that I have as we can work with them and have fun as well networking in the process! Some interests that I have is attending music festivals such as Insomniac and Hard events. I’ve been attending music festivals for four years and I love everything about them. Recently I started working for Insomniac for Ground Control which is a group of people that walk around the grounds making sure people are safe and having fun. Looking out for people that may be sick, lost, or had “too much”. I love to be in the water as well swimming and surfing. I’m a big Harry Potter nerd with all the books and movies and can go on forever talking about it! #TeamSlytherin
Vice-President: Alexandra Black | EL-BSN, class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.VicePresident@gmail.com
I have not yet found the department I want to work in for my career. However, my goal is to graduate with my BSN and go on to earn a Master’s degree. I am open minded about the type of department I want to pursue for my career because I believe there are unlimited possibilities in the nursing field. A goal I have as Vice President is to create as many connections with other clubs and organizations as possible. I think the connections we make in college and throughout our career can open new doors and opportunities for the future. I also want to organize an informative and enjoyable boot camp for students this Summer 2017!
I enjoy hiking with friends and I recently took a trip up to Yosemite. I like watching Netflix and listening to music in my free time. Reading is my favorite hobby and I am always looking for a good book. Any recommendations?
Secretary: Bianca Bongga | EL-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.Secretary@gmail.com
I’m open minded to see which specialties spark my interest in my upcoming clinical rotations, but for now I’m very interested in pursuing neonatal intensive care and pediatrics. I also hope to continue my education and become a Nurse Practitioner in the specialty I choose. My dream after finishing my education is to volunteer with an international relief organization to provide healthcare to underprivileged communities around the world.
I’m excited to use my position on this year’s executive board to support member engagement by ensuring that everyone is kept up to date with all matters discussed in board and general meetings through periodical newsletters.
Satisfying my sweet tooth, hiking, playing tennis, or just doing something outdoors are a few things I’m most likely doing at any given moment. I’m also a recent graduate from the COPE Health Scholars program, so feel free to come to me for questions about this great patient care experience!
Treasurer: Evette Andraos | EL-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.Treasurer@gmail.com
Scholarship: Araceli Casillas | Traditional-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.Scholarship@gmail.com
I am still exploring my different options for nursing. I don’t have a particular department my heart is set on, but I am leaning towards women’s health. Eventually I would like to go back to school and become a nurse practitioner. However in the meantime, I am eager to explore my different options and see what will best suit me in the near future!
As Scholarship Chair, my primary goal is to bring forth a variety of scholarship opportunities to NSA members. I also want to provide constant reminders for the members of upcoming due dates through different online outlets. Lastly, I want to demonstrate to the NSA members that I am always available for any questions or concerns they may have when applying for scholarships :)
In my spare time I like to watch re-runs of The Office on Netflix. I love going to alternative rock concerts, so if I can fit them into my schedule I will definitely not pass the chance! I also have a MAJOR sweet tooth so I am always constantly looking for new dessert places to try out (if you have any recommendations please share!!)
Membership: Amanda Felton | EL-BSN, Class of 2018 | CSUFNSA.Membership@gmail.com
I am still figuring out what type of nurse I want to be. Currently, I am choosing between med-surg/telemetry and labor and delivery, which are two completely different things. Hopefully, as I finish out my last year, I will discover the type of nursing I want to pursue. Once I complete my BSN and have at least two years experience of bedside care, I hope to pursue a MSN in nursing education.
My goal as membership director is to increase and maintain a high census and club involvement. I think that many NSA members drop NSA because there are not enough volunteering opportunities during the times that they are the most available. I hope to help other members of the board in providing more volunteer opportunities during the spring, summer and winter breaks.
I love collecting makeup and watching beauty videos. I play the piano, flute and piccolo. I was in my high school marching band. Go band kids!
Outreach: Brianna Soto | EL-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.Outreach@gmail.com
Currently I am undecided of what type of nurse I am striving to become. Since I have not experienced all nursing fields I am still exploring my options. However, I am highly interested in working in the NICU. As outreach, I look forward to organizing Discoverfest events where we recruit new members for our club. Overall, my goal is to encourage both nursing members and others interested in nursing to join our club. I love listening to music, watching Netflix, going to new places, and hanging out with friends and family. I used to play basketball and the flute, and I used to bake. Not much time for it now though.
Activities Director: Kristie Ngo | EL-BSN, Class of 2018 | CSUFNSA.Activities@gmail.com
I am not completely sure what type of nurse I want to be, but I definitely know what I do not want. I love working with children and I had an amazing experience in the pediatric intensive care unit. However, I do not know whether or not I would enjoy the adult ICU or the pediatric one more. After I gain clinical experience with adult critical care, I hope to be able to decide what type of nurse I want to be. I would also like to further by education by becoming a nurse practitioner.
As activities director, my goal this year is to offer more events that members can participate in. I will ask members for their input about the different events they want to participate in or what causes they are passionate about so that they have a say in what events are offered which may then increase the overall participation in events.
I am definitely a foodie and I love trying new food places that I see on Instagram and Yelp. I also love watching Netflix and I am currently watching House of Cards.
Co-Historian: Reyna Alvarado | EL-BSN, Class of 2018 | CSUFNSA.Historian@gmail.com
After I graduate with my BSN, I hope to become a pediatric nurse. I would also like to further my education and become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I love working with children and I’ve been working with kids since 7th grade as a volunteer coach at a sports organization, in which I still volunteer to this day and I also work at an elementary school. I can’t imagine myself working with any other population!
In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, going hiking, and traveling. I have visited at least 35 states in the U.S. and in high school I was given the opportunity to travel Europe for a month.
Co-Historian: April Castorillo | EL-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.Historian@gmail.com
After I graduate, I hope to work in Med-Surg while I attend graduate school to become a family or geriatric nurse practitioner. I also want to volunteer for medical mission trips as soon as I renew my passport. The increasing geriatric population and disparities in healthcare among minority groups are issues that I want to help solve throughout my nursing career.
As Co-Historian, my primary goal is to promote NSA through social media posts about our accomplishments, fun activities, and volunteer opportunities. I hope that NSA grows as a club and becomes more recognized to the campus and the community.
In my spare time (but more as a stress-reliever since there is hardly any spare time in nursing school), I like doing DIY projects inspired by Pinterest. I also have 2 pugs named Jack and Jill, and I am learning Spanish as my third language.
Fundraising: Kimberly Fong | EL-BSN, Class of 2019 | CSUFNSA.Fundraising@gmail.com
After I finish my BSN at Cal State Fullerton, my hope is to further my education in nursing and become a pediatric nurse practitioner in an acute care setting. I have always had a passion to serve children, which really came about through my younger sister. Since then, I involved myself in fundraising events to support children’s hospitals, especially in the annual CHOC walk held this year on August 27th.
During my second year as NSA board member, my goal is to accumulate funds for our local hospitals and community health initiatives. I have raised money in the past to support NSA through the Booster campaign “We Call the Shots.” I have already drafted up various designs that I can’t wait to launch this year!
Outside of nursing school, I enjoy outdoor activities, knitting, and singing. I also pass time with problem-solving games. I have recently started a collection of plush penguins and hope to see it grow over the years I spend in college. Every penguin under my care is assured copious affection!
Convention Chair: Ian Morris | RN-BSN, Class of 2018 | CSUFNSA.Conference@gmail.com
I plan on getting my Master's in Nursing Education. I have enjoyed teaching and mentoring peers and other students throughout my academic career, from tutoring microbiology, spending extra hours in skills lab, and through my many roles within the Nursing Student Association. I would be honored to help train the next generation of nurses. During my service as Convention Chair I will promote attendance and active participation in campus-based, state, and national conventions. My participation in NSA and its conventions gave me the communication and leadership skills that helped me get my first RN job. I currently sit on the convention planning committee for California Nursing Student Association, so I hope to see you at the conference we are putting together October 6-8! My hobbies include camping, kayaking, stargazing, and birdwatching (it's like Pokémon Go in real life!) so you can usually find me in the arboretum between classes. I love board games, we play them almost every night at my house.
Your 2017-2017 NSA Board is here to support you in whatever way you need! Nursing is a team sport!
