We would like to give a special shoutout to NSA member Hannah Tjoa for her special contribution in our canned food drive! A freshman in our nursing program, Hannah applied for a $250 check from the Smart and Final Charitable Foundation to help go to our canned food drive. We thank her as she went above and beyond to help us with our drive to buy additional cans by contacting local stores to see what could be offered!

Congratulations to Chris Mendoza, our Member of the Year for 2017-2018! By being the most active member in devoting his time to volunteer, he accumulated the most hours toward CSUF NSA. Chris joined NSA last summer and has become recently involved in activities and events this year. His most memorable NSA event that he volunteered for was the Nursing Skills Boot Camp 2017 in which he found it as an opportunity to give back to his fellow nursing students. He recommends that students, whether nursing majors or not, should join NSA as soon as possible and to get involved in what NSA has to offer. If Chris had any advice to new nursing students, he would recommend utilizing all the available resources you have at hand such as the nursing simulation center, library, online resources and guides, professors, etc. regardless of who you are and despite of being in clinical before asking for additional help and resources. Chris did not know that he was going to receive the title of Member of the Year, and we’d like to thank him for being an actively diligent member in willingly using his spare time to volunteer. Thank you for being a part of and contributing to the success of NSA!
Jesse is in Santa Ana College (SAC) NSA as their Community Outreach and believes his position has helped him enjoy nursing school even more. As Community Outreach he looks for opportunities for nursing students to practice their skills like screenings for blood sugar and blood pressure. Jesse is also promoting a Spanish terminology course so nursing students can provide cultural competent care with better communication skills. AuthorWritten by April Castorillo As a distance based RN-BSN student at CSUF, there are not many of us in NSA. So being part of the NSA club at first kind of intimidated me. I thought I would feel like an outcast however, my experience with NSA has been anything but that. I always feel welcomed and embraced in this club. The board members are super friendly and nice. Due to scheduling conflicts, I try my best to attend as many meetings as I can because I am never disappointed. The club is alive with high spirit and embraces everyone. As an RN, I am introduced to many new opportunities in the club like joining the bone marrow registry and active volunteering in the local community. This club is a gem on campus and opportunities for self-growth are fostered. Go Titans! AuthorAmena, RN Spring 2017's Discoverfest went so well, thanks to the awesome NSA members who volunteered to help out with our booth, both Wednesday, February 1st and Thursday, February 2nd. #realmvps 😎 Keep an eye (and ear) out for future volunteer opportunities! I would love everyone to be involved in future events with NSA, CSUF, and the community. For now, we hope everyone's having a good start with Spring semester so far! Kimberly, NSA Outreach Chair As we spend some time away from nursing school and enjoy some much-needed quality time with our loved ones over this holiday season, NSA is giving to those in need. Our Holiday Toy Drive was a partnership between NSA, Csuf Hhd Icc, and the CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods. The toys went to ABC7's 24th #SparkofLoveToyDrive, as they partnered with #SoCalFirefighters and the #USMarineCorpsReserve. "The Spark of Love Toy Drive Fund was created in 2004 at the California Community Foundation to provide toys or sports equipment for underserved children during the holiday season in Southern California." - calfund.org Much love and gratitude to everyone who has donated and helped us to make children's holidays brighter this year. The Toy Drive was a huge success, thanks to y'all! Happy holidays! Roxy Santiago, NSA Scholarship Chair |
